Traditional aspiration methods often risk contamination as the catheter passes through the upper gastrointestinal tract. To address this issue, Hobbs Medical, Inc. has developed the CleanCapture™ Aspiration Catheter, an innovative single-use aspiration catheter designed to enhance sample integrity during endoscopic procedures.
How It Works
The CleanCapture™ collection tip is shielded by a protective membrane until the catheter is positioned at the sample site. The collection tip is exposed when the clinician advances the collection tip to draw the sample, then it is quickly shielded again for retraction. This feature allows the distal membrane to shield the collection tip during insertion through the endoscope to the sampling site, preventing exposure to surrounding contaminants. Once at the target location – typically in the duodenum or jejunum – the tip is advanced to bypass the membrane for aspiration. Following sample collection, the tip is retracted, resealing behind the membrane to protect the acquired fluid during withdrawal.
