CleanCapture™ Aspiration Catheter
There are numerous challenges to overcome when obtaining the microbiome of the small intestine. One challenge has been that the amount of fluid that can be aspirated from this area is limited. Another challenge is that typical catheters are contaminated as they traverse the endoscope through which these samples are obtained.
Swift, accurate diagnosis depends on the integrity of the aspirate sample. Hobbs Medical is introducing a novel system to precisely address this need.
Created in close collaboration with leading gastrointestinal physicians. The CleanCapture™ Aspiration Catheter is an endoscopic medical device designed to significantly reduce the risk of contamination during aspirate collection while providing efficient collection.
With Hobbs Medical’s CleanCapture™ aspiration tool, the collection tip is shielded by a protective membrane until the catheter is positioned at the sample site. The collection tip is exposed only when the clinician advances the collection tip to draw the sample, then it is quickly shielded again for retraction.
This new system will also be integral to the study of the small intestine in relationship to the microbiome. The novel aspiration tool will thus directly impact the areas of gastrointestinal functional and motility disorder diagnosis and treatment.
